NETBALL

OVERVIEW

Following the success of our rugby competition and growing demand, we are thrilled to announce the addition of Netball to the Global Schools Challenge.

Competition Formats:

Depending on interest, we will host one of two exciting competitions:

  • Netball Knockout:

    • 8 teams competing in a straight knockout format.
  • Netball Blitz:

    • 16 teams competing in a high-intensity tournament.

 

Both formats promise to deliver thrilling matches and showcase the best talent from participating schools. We look forward to welcoming netball teams to join this international sporting spectacle!

NETBALL KNOCKOUT

  • Teams and Eligibility:

    • The tournament will feature 8 teams, with athletes aged 16 to 18 years.
    • Younger players may be considered following discussions with schools and guardians.
  • Format:

    • The competition will be a straight knockout, comprising Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, and a Final.
    • Both Cup and Plate trophies will be contested, ensuring multiple opportunities for teams to compete.
  • Match Duration:

    • Games will be played over the standard 60 minutes.
  • Tiebreaker Rules:

    • In the event of a draw:
      1. The team with the most goals in the final quarter will advance.
      2. If still tied, the team with the better disciplinary record will proceed.
      3. If no resolution, the outcome will be decided by a coin toss.

NETBALL BLITZ

  • Teams and Eligibility:

    • The tournament will feature 16 teams with players aged 16 to 18 years.
  • Format:

    • Teams will be divided into 4 groups of 4.
    • Matches will be 30 minutes long instead of the standard 60 minutes, with each team playing 2 matches per day.
    • Match Schedule:
      • Day 1: 2 pool games per team.
      • Day 2: 1 pool game and 1 quarter-final.
      • Day 3: Semi-finals, finals, and 3rd/4th playoffs.
  • Scoring System for Pool Matches:

    • Win: 4 points.
    • Draw: 1 point.
    • Bonus Points:
      • 1 point for losing by 5 goals or fewer.
      • 1 point for winning by 10 goals or more.
    • Tiebreakers for pool standings:
      1. Goal difference.
      2. Goals scored.
      3. Disciplinary record.
      4. Coin toss, if no other resolution.
  • Advancement:

    • Teams finishing 1st and 2nd in each group advance to the Cup quarter-finals.
    • Teams finishing 3rd and 4th advance to the Bowl quarter-finals.
    • Losing Cup quarter-finalists move to the Plate semi-finals.
    • Losing Bowl quarter-finalists move to the Shield competition.
  • Competitions:

    • The tournament will feature 4 competitions: Cup, Plate, Bowl, and Shield, ensuring all teams remain active.
    • Each team is guaranteed 6 matches over 3 days, maintaining the equivalent of the traditional 60-minute model while facing more opponents.
  • Knockout Phase Tiebreakers:

    • In the event of a draw:
      1. The team with the most goals in the final quarter advances.
      2. If still tied, the team with the better disciplinary record advances.
      3. If no resolution, the outcome is decided by a coin toss.
