OVERVIEW

  • Categories:

    • The tournament will feature both male and female competitions.
    • The inaugural year will focus on Under-18 teams, with plans to expand to more age groups in the future.
  • Formats:
    Depending on the level of interest, two competition formats will be offered for both girls and boys:

    1. 8-Team Knockout:

      • A straightforward elimination format.
      • Matches progress through quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final.
      • Plate competition for teams eliminated in the earlier rounds ensures all teams play multiple matches.
    2. Football Blitz:

      • Designed for up to 16 teams.
      • Teams compete in group stages, followed by knockout rounds.
      • Ensures more matches for each team and a dynamic, fast-paced tournament atmosphere.

This dual-format approach allows flexibility to accommodate varying levels of participation while ensuring a competitive and engaging experience for all teams.

  • Teams and Eligibility:

    • The tournament will feature 8 teams.
    • Players must be aged 16 to 18 years, with younger players considered after discussions with guardians and teams.
    • Open to clubs and schools worldwide.
  • Match Format:

    • Matches will consist of two halves of 45 minutes each.
    • In the event of a tie, the outcome will be decided by a penalty shootout.
  • Schedule:

    • Day 1:
      • Cup Quarter-finals for all teams.
    • Day 2:
      • Cup Semi-finals for quarter-final winners.
      • Plate Semi-finals for quarter-final losers.
    • Day 3:
      • 3rd/4th Playoffs for both Cup and Plate competitions.
      • Finals for the Cup and Plate trophies.

This format ensures every team plays multiple matches and competes for silverware, making it a highly engaging and inclusive tournament.

  • Teams and Structure:

    • 16 teams, divided into 4 groups of 4 teams.
  • Match Format:

    • Games will consist of 2 halves of 25 minutes each.
    • To manage player fatigue, teams will play a maximum of 100 minutes per day.
    • Rolling substitutions are allowed.
  • Scoring System:

    • Win: 3 points.
    • Draw: 1 point.
  • Tiebreakers for Group Standings:

    • If teams are tied on points:
      1. Goal difference.
      2. Disciplinary record.
      3. Coin toss if all else is equal.
  • Advancement:

    • The top 2 teams in each group progress to the Cup quarter-finals.
    • The bottom 2 teams in each group move to the Bowl quarter-finals.
  • Knockout Phase:

    • Cup Quarter-finalists:
      • Winners advance to the Cup semi-finals.
      • Losers move to the Plate semi-finals.
    • Bowl Quarter-finalists:
      • Winners advance to the Bowl semi-finals.
      • Losers move to the Shield semi-finals.
  • Tie Resolution in Knockouts:

    • In the event of a draw, a penalty shootout will determine the winner.
  • Match Guarantee:

    • Each team is guaranteed 2 matches per day over the 3-day tournament, ensuring every team competes across all days.

This format provides a balanced and engaging competition, catering to varying skill levels while ensuring plenty of match time for all teams.
